## Description

Relaxing in her garden room, enjoying the bright, airy ambience of the space, the current owner of the house on Caldecotte Lane agrees that the property has been everything she hoped it would be. She and her husband bought it and lived there before they retired and moved abroad for a spell. Now, it has been her permanent home for the past three years and she admits it has been a superb place to live for many different reasons. “We first bought it because we felt the location was perfect for us,” she recalls. “We liked the fact it was so close to the lake and had so much open space to the front, yet it was also in a very convenient position with good access to everything we needed. It was ideal for us at the time and it has been a very happy home ever since.”

HIGH QUALITY
It was towards the end of 2001 that they bought the new property from Bellway Homes. Since then, they have maintained it as necessary and enhanced it with a few additional touches. While they were abroad, it was let and they ensured they continued to retain its high quality. “Over the years, we have made a few changes and improvements,” she explains. “The garden room has been added to the back of the house, for example, and we extended out to the front to change the orientation of the door.” Both these changes have improved the flow of the house and heightened the sense of space and easy living. “We have also redecorated throughout, making the most of the natural light in the house. All the walls are painted white and magnolia, and there are Venetian blinds on all the windows.”

GOOD FLOW
Set back from the road by a very generous driveway, the house presents an attractive exterior. Since the extension to the front, it has been accessed via a porch and a door to the right. This opens into a useful lobby and then the inner hall, where there is access to the cloakroom and the main ground-floor living accommodation. The elegant sitting room is a good-sized space, with ample room for comfortable seating, a television area and even a piano. Perfect for formal entertaining, it is also an excellent relaxation space. The dining room, which adjoins the kitchen and the garden room, is also accessed from the hall. This could equally make a perfect family room.

EASY LIVING
The bright kitchen features a breakfast bar for snacks and casual meals. There could also be space in here, however, for a small table and chairs. The utility room, which is conveniently adjacent, opens into both the garage and the garden. Subject to the relevant planning permissions, there could be potential to remove some of the walls between the rooms at the back of the house. This could create an even larger, open-plan kitchen, dining and family room, should that suit the requirements of the new owners. The garden room is accessed via sliding doors from the dining room. This could also be used as a playroom, older children’s den or even a dining room. “We have really enjoyed all the rooms here,” she adds. “I love the whole house.”

FAMILY LIVING
Upstairs, the layout could also be ideal for those with a family or who enjoy welcoming overnight guests. The generous master bedroom looks out to the front of the house and encompasses fitted wardrobes and an en suite shower room. The other three bedrooms also have built-in storage. Two are a particularly good size. One is currently arranged as a study. The family bathroom is also on the first floor and has a bath with a shower above it.

SUNNY DAYS
The well-kept garden, with its areas of terrace and artificial lawn, has been greatly enjoyed during the warmer months. “We have enjoyed sitting outside and hosting barbecues whenever the weather has permitted,” she says. The surrounding area, especially nearby Caldecotte Lake, has also brought great pleasure. “We enjoyed strolling around the lake and feeding the ducks and swans. The Grand Union Canal, with its locks, and Bletchley Park are also nice places to walk.” The owner admits she will miss the location and the open space when she leaves. But she adds: “I will take lots of happy memories of my time living here when I leave.”

Outside
To the front of the house, there is a generous driveway with ample off-road parking and access to the garage. To the rear, the house opens onto an enclosed garden, with areas of terrace and artificial lawn. There is a garden shed.
