The beaches in Pembrokeshire are probably some of the most spectacular in the country. Apart from Solva beach, Whitesands beach near St David's is a sandy beach suitable for surfing and swimming. Newgale beach with its rugged, sweeping vista is also very impressive, again offering excellent surfing. Travelling further afield about 5.5 miles you will find Abereiddy beach which is a popular spot for coasteering an excellent outdoor pursuit for children and adults alike. The local area also provides one of the best areas for scuba diving. If you just want a short walk around the coast next to Solva then the Gribin Coastal Walk is ideal or a longer walk starting from Porthclais harbour is fun. Just as interesting is a walk in the Preseli Hills and Mountains to see first-hand where the Stonehenge "blue stones" originated. There is an incredible amount of wildlife to observe whilst walking the coast or you can take a boat trip to visit Skomar or Ramsey islands where you will see puffins, seals and dolphins.
