The Barge no 3 is a 21metre x 3.5 metre Steel Barge located on a secure residential liveaboard mooring in Dauntless Boatyard, Canvey Island, 10 minutes' walk from Benfleet c2c station and bus routes. We call the barge no. 3 as I believe that was the number in the line when built in 1955, as we have a copy of the original hull drawings. We built the steel topsides of the barge in 2015/16 on the 1955 hull with interior wooden floors and ceiling. In 2015 we had the hull surveyed, with the bottom showing a thickness of between 6 and 7mm so I had 6mm steel sheets welded on the bottom, after which we moved her to a tidal mud berth in Leigh Marina. Earlier this year we moved her to her current residential liveaboard mooring in Duantless Boatyard. The Barge was built as an art gallery and is very spacious and open, with wooden floors and ceilings. There are 2 bedrooms with space for a large 3rd bedroom and 2 toilets with macerators and a shower. A kerosene boiler heats 6 radiators, hot water, and the shower. In the fitted kitchen, there is a new 4-burner hob with oven and grill run on propane gas bottles, a large double fridge and freezer, a dishwasher and microwave. All windows and doors are double-glazed with fitted blinds. The settees, table, 6 chairs and 2 beds can stay should the new owner want them. The barge is on a residential liveaboard mooring with mains water and electric supply, with a free car parking space, good laundry facilities, shower, toilet block and cafe. The Mooring charges are £606.90 per calendar month, with no other costs than gas, electricity, and kerosene for heating.
